Are You Detail Oriented? – 6 Questions to Ask Yourself

Sweat the Small Stuff
They say the devil is in the details, but how many of us actually take the time to analyse the details inside our own companies?
They say, don’t sweat the small stuff. But in business, I say you have to sweat the small stuff. Without sweating the small stuff, you can miss opportunities, lose ground quickly and costs can run out of control
So how much do you agonize over the small things? Think about these questions:
- Can you name your top ten customers by name? Top 25? Top 50? If not, why not?
- Can you name your best and worst selling products? If not, why not?
- Can you name your best and worst profitable products or product lines? If not, why not?
- Have you or someone else in your company analysed your telephone bill to see if you can save money by making a change? If not, why not?
- Have you reviewed your bank charges and approached your account manager for a better deal? If not, why not?
- Have you spent time training your staff in detail about customer service and the standards that you want to uphold? If not, why not?
- I could go on and on.
My father used to always tell me to watch the pennies and the dollars will follow. Are you watching your pennies? Are you sweating the small stuff that can make huge differences in your business?
If not, why not?
