<itunes:summary>Welcome to a new blog solely dedicated to providing ideas and insight that will help drive success for independent Canadian retailers. I'm Andy Buyting.

(http://www.myretailer.ca/wp-content/uploads/green village.jpg)

You might be wondering who I am and what I'm all about. I'm an independent retailer based in Atlantic Canada. My business, Green Village Home & Garden is one of Canada's most successful retail home & garden stores. My family has operated the business for more than twenty years in Fredericton, N.B..Today we operate two stores in Fredericton and Moncton. We also operate a landscape service company in Fredericton with plans to launch our services toMoncton area residents in time for the 2009 season.

In 2007,I published The Retailer's Roadmap to Success: 33 Secrets for Driving Your Business to the Next Level.

Like all retailers, I learned much of what I practice the hard way, through the school of hard knocks. I'm also a life-long student of business, taking courses and reading as much as possible.

As a result, we've changed the way we do business and Green Village Home & Garden now operates unlike anyone else in the independent retail industry. Our unorthodox way we look at business and run our operations has helped us to embark on expansion plans that will in time, see Green Village Home & Garden locations in multiple sites through Atlantic Canada and beyond.

On this site, I'll share many of my strategies for success, through articles, podcasts, best practices, videos, and of course blog entries. On this blog, I'll be sharing many of my thoughts, ideas and experiences on running an independent retail business in the Canadian market.

Good luck and here's to a successful 2009!

Andy
